Well, that all depends
The answer would be 1 if: A) multiplay was allowed only up to 5 characters per person, as we can most likely assume that at least 2 people are not multiplaying the maximum number of chars. B) the MUD admins are actually able to enforce the rules governing multiplaying limitations. The answer would be 2 if: A) the MUD that allowed multiplay allowed for 6 or more characters per person, and the average number of characters per person is greater than 5. B) The MUD admins are actually able to enforce the rules forbidding multiplay. 3 is entirely irrelevant because: A) Many people have an internet connection with a provider that uses subnet masking (corporate LANs, school networks, home networks etc), which causes many unique connections appear to be emanating from the same IP address. B) Many people have simultaneous access to multiple IP addresses (basically anyone with multiple shell accounts). These two factors render identifying multiplayers through tracking IP addresses alone entirely useless. |

And the point of this poll was what? I must have missed something because to me, the whole poll was pointless. I consider myself reasonably intelligent but did this serve any real purpose?

A few weeks ago a discussion started about the popularity of muds.
Some muds were multiplay while other muds were not-multiplay. And a lot of the people(which really shocked me) were convinced that the number of characters in a game is *always* the same as the number of players in a game. So to all that say that this poll is pointless. You are right. *evil aura* Makila. |
