I just recently commissioned a sig image, and now I would like to put it on my profile here. My question is, what are the rules on sig images? Can I put my image there? Are there particularly strict size limits? (it's not very large, mind you)

My rule of thumb is the average content of your posts should be twice the size of your sig or avatar images, whichever is bigger. I can forgive a big sig if you post a lot of content, but it's annoying when there's more fluff than substance.

Also, while 40KB is no big deal to a broadband user, someone on dialup might find it annoying.

Alright, I was just curious. My sig image wouldn't really fit my profile here because I'm using a name from one of my stories instead of my most common nickname (the one in the sig).

I don't care for the signature images, but I like the avatar images very much as a way to individualize posters.

I feel like Sigs should function differently than the above purpose for avatars. Sigs should establish your personality verbally, via a quote, personal statement, or even a reference to your favorite web page.
