I recently graduated Air Force basic training. I'm currently in tech school (computer programming) at Keesler AFB and finally am financially secure enough to get not only my first computer, but my ***Dream Computer*** (trumpet flairs).
So now I'm seeking a wide range of advice on just about anything related to what a proper ***Dream Computer*** should have. For now, say the budget for hardware is $2200 maximum and $1600 minimum (assuming price strongly correlates with quality). If you have any comments at all about what makes a great PC, please share. Priorities: 1. Internet, mudding, etc. This priority is far ahead of all others. When I'm not reading, almost of my entertainment time has been spent on the Internet. I also do a lot of research on the Net. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it my home. I also still intend to develop my own mud some day in the future, so I would like to be set up well enough for that contingency. At the very least, I hope to program and/or build on another mud. 2. Gaming. Other than mudding, I've been game starved for about 7 years now. #### public computers! 3. DVD movies. On a related note, is it possible and worthwhile to set a computer up to transmit TV signals so that you don't have to buy a TV? 4. Some graphics editing. I'll probably get a fancy graphics program of some sort, but I'll think more on that later. |
