This is a discussion on "Your nickname might be more then just a nickname" in the Top Mud Sites Tavern of the Blue Hand forum : According to my best friend Google, I (Ingham) am an US Costal Guard ship from 1936 but also a county in Michigan USA and a quite talented artist as well. Of course, this still leaves me as a retirement consultancy and last but not least, a company that sell frozen chickens. So what else is there hidden in YOUR nickname? PS, For the curious, my nickname really came from the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3, where you can play a hero called Ingham (a priest)... |

There are loads of "Kavirs" - fortunately I'm the only one with a capital "V"

I'm scared. I looked up MetaMagus and found a bunch of German fantasy sites with "MetaMagus" in it. I have to wonder if any of you crazy Germanophones (yeah, it's probably not a word, but still) out there can tell me what it means? Cause I created the persona Meta way back when, and had no idea that it may actually mean something. Gaaah!

As far as I know, there is only one Yui Unifex =). A good idea is to take your handle, and then attach a prefix or suffix to make it even more unique.
Yui means 'Jade'. It's my wife's name in Chinese, and fairly common (I think). The unifex side is more interesting. I tried to get a company shirt from Unifex, Ltd., but they never responded to my inquiries (A shame, too, them being the biggest distributer of consumer goods. Particularly catfood.) I'm also a collection of tools for the ancient ircII. And a rather odd baby name. Some mathematical aides. And even another mud developer! |

The only places that Neranz shows up on Google are links related to me and a bunch of bookmark sites with 0 links for Neranz.
I feel left out. Actually, this was intentional. I did a search on +Neranz and +"Neranz Laverani" before adopting the name. At that time, Google didn't return any results. I'll have a good pretend sulk anyway though. Neranz Laverani, Seeker of Knowledge |

Most instances of Orion Elder are about me... strange thing, though, is that there are a few that are not.
For instance, one is about an Academy of Orion, where everyone who becomes headmaster becomes known as 'Orion Elder.' There are only about three instances where it doesn't relate to me, though. And for those wondering, no, my name did not come from that school thing. I just sort of stuck the two together. |

well, Likita Renn was a char i made up for one of my stories that i was writing, but i thought i made it up... apparently "likita" is also a company that imports cat climby thingies ( *meow*), the misspelled name of an "inspirational performing artist" (actually Lakita Garth, apparently), the nickname of the "Number one horse in the NDA stable", and is also in a whole bunch of pages that are in other languages, and still are too confusing to decipher even AFTER you hit the "translate" button...:P
well, i suppose you learn something new every day... -likita |

All Google found for my name was something in the Baptism Records of Salem Reformed and Lutheran Church, Chestnut Hill Twp., Monroe, PA.
Elizabeth Santrilla Born 11-19-1855 Baptised 1-27-1856 Not very exciting, I know. However, one of my various alt names, Vitruvius, turned out to be an ancient Roman philosopher or something... |

Ummm... Yikes.
Sapphar is: a biblical character an ancient historical reference from India the name of a erotic mind control story *boggle* a small African kingdom the last name of a spanish-language romance novelist All this when I was just having fun playing with words related to gemstones for the name of a jeweler/merchant character I was going to create. On the plus side, when I checked my own IRL name, it came up with all references to me. *cough* Okay, almost all references to me. One was a site for the "Most Gorgeous Woman in the World". Sapphar |

Heh. I'm not sure anyone needs much to guess what Samson would turn up, so lets do my alternate name instead: Aswerf. Pay close attention to where the keys on the keyboard are. Yes, that's how I chose the name over 15 years ago on a little known Commodore 64 game called Telengard.
Results from Google: One reference to something in German. In the readme.txt file for a program called conkret.exe. Nothing else though. Even this one link had never come up until just recently. So, if any Germans are reading this, any idea what "Aswerf" means in German? |

Well..my main character Sargtlin came up with 250 hits on Google but I expected that since it's a drowish name, so I decided to do an alt's name, Traeger and got 12,500 hits in 0.58 seconds! Woo! They include (and I wont put the links but) The Orginator of Wood Pellet BBQs, Some german guy that offers what appears to be Lineux and MS updates,a post-modern punk rock troubadour,a GBU070c CORN Furnace, and the list goes on and on and on..made me worried to look up my first MUD character, Legion...

I got my name from a book about a ancient woman 'lawyer', with a Saxon manservant named...Eadulf. I searched on Google, and it mostly brought up my websites...but...
1. I'm a Earl of Northumbria. 2.Eadulf Evilcild, ealdorman of Bamburgh (ealdorman 963 – ca 994) And thats pretty much it. |

Do a Google image search on Wenlin and you get a bunch of Chinese people, oddly enough.
In fact, some mean invisible imm played a prank on me saying, "Wenlin means something in Chinese, you'll have to change your name" I'm just like, "Make me, this isn't a Chinese mud" Do a search on Kenthar and you get some of my LiveJournal stuff, and some German pages...hmm... |

No one else. I'm the only smadronia as far as I know, and I hope I'll always be the only one.
My alternate name is Mooolady, and there's none of them around either. |

I chose Euphrosyne as my nickname because in Greek mythology, she is the Grace who represents Joy, and I like the symbolism. Plus it has a nice ring to it
