Well since starting in a private highschool, I no longer have time to play my old mud, at least not till the week-ends (and not always then).

What I REALLY need is a MUD with a decent player base, that I can just log onto for maybe half-an-hour to an hour every other day or so and... I dunno... chat, frag some monsters, do a little PK, or have a quick (insanely short) RP session. That sort of stuff .

I WAS playing www.wotmud.org, and to play 'well', you really need to invest something like two hours a day or more, because you need money to rent, and if you die you just loose everything.

So really what I'm looking for is a Mud that's:

Simplish set up (I.e. doesn't have a million levels + remort +multi classing + a programable stalker who will randomly send you text messages )
With depth if depth is asked for (for weekend playing )
PK system as well as RPing
And other people who play .

Anyone know of any muds like that? I've been looking and I'm at my wit's end.

A fantasy world would be nice, but I'm not super picky...

You could try 4Dimensions, it's a good Mud for random play, because we don't use any of the usual tricks to 'tie' our players to the mud. Some of our oldtimers, who have less time for playing than they used to, seem to regard the mud mostly as a chat house.  Many of our players play several different Mud, but regard 4D as their 'home'.

We have the depth you are asking for, but we don't force anything on anybody, even PK and RP is optional. People can play our game in any style they choose, and there are lots of choices, you don't even have to kill mobs to get along, you can for instance solve quests or pursue some trade.

Our playerbase is pretty small, but very stable, we peak around 25, but there are usually at least 5 players on line around the clock. We don't advertise, so the inflow is pretty low, but our players tend to stay very long.

As for the theme, we are a Time Travel mud, so we have four worlds, but one of them - (the largest one) - is medieval fantasy.

Give us a try. You might like it. At least I can promise you a very 'different' experience.

Any of the IRE muds (achaea, aetolia, imperian or the very-soon-to-be-open Lusternia) would fit everything you've asked for there.

If you haven't found a mud yet, check out TempusMUD at Tempusmud.com 2020. Tempus has three planes of existence that are colliding, a past, future, and outer planes. Time travel, alternative environments, fantasy, and sci-fi are some of the main themes. Good luck either way!
