Now, i know this might be a stupid question, but i was wondering if there's a mud out there that fits some of these descriptions:

- Smaug
- Pk required
- No leveling, maybe level-less, or maybe just automatically set to a certain level
- Limited eq, so that one player can't get too powerful
- Lots of different pk-based games run by imms

I know these are pretty specific, but hey... it's what i'm looking for.

If anyone could direct me to a mud that's anything like this, i'd be grateful.

The MUD that you're looking for is Genocide. It's not SMAUG, but it's the best MUD of the type you describe.

Thanks. Genocide looks really great from the website. I can't seem to get a char started there, though... maybe you could help me out?

Any other suggestions for muds would be appreciated. I'd like to sort of... you know... shop around...

just telnet to geno.org 2222 and.. well.. start a new character

The next closest thing would be Tsunami, but (except on the war port), there are levels, and they do determine your chars abilities, even in wars.

If none of that works out

Go play Land of Chaos...its got...3 of the things you said

- Pk required: You get 4 hour newbie time, and you have to be in "range" of someone you kill
-Pretty much level-less. Don't tell anyone, but its more based around which class is cheaper, or how well you can use them. Dragons are supposed to be the most "overpowered" But I've beaten the smack out of one using a class no one uses.
-You have class eq, which is pretty much equal to everyone elses classeq, and then with questpoints and gold, you can get better armor.

I hate advertising except to friends, and this probably isn't what you're looking for at all, but well...fun place if you can manage the groove of things there.

More or less, what i'm looking for is basically just a place where i can come in and just start pkilling. For no reason. Without having to spend time leveling up just to get in the good pk range, or having to spend time finding equipment that would put me on-par with the other pkillers. This wouldn't be a mud where i'd play full time, just a place to come when i'm bored, to work on my pk skills.

Basically just one big peacy arena

You can pretty much get all your skills up and get your "mastery" item at 3 hours, and then by 4 you can get your hp to max. You don't need a single reason to pk, and its unlimited from there.

And besides, there are automated scavenger hunts. Free questpoints all around!

If you're looking for a truly pk-oriented mud with no fringes, go to groundzero. Currently they're located at groundzero.wox.org port 6666, but they'll be moving to gz.malawar.net as of the end of this month. Same ip, different DNS; you may just want to save the IP if you like the game.

GZ is a ROM variant from about 8-9 years ago. There are no levels, races, classes, or anything else. All you give is your login name and gender. Eq is randomly distributed about the game, as are the walls. Games last 90 minutes, and it's truly a shoot-it-out environment.

I've been playing there for about 2-3 years now. It was the best alternative to all of the MUDs I played long ago that have died because pking became taboo.
