This is a discussion on "MUDding without the D" in the Top Mud Sites Tavern of the Blue Hand forum :

There seems to be an increasingly popular game going around called outwar. It seems like it is based on MUDing concepts. Have any of you played this before?...

That's a lie. Outwar is a completely non-mudding related game about tricking people into clicking your link, if you didn't know already. This post has no signifigance to topmudsites except that Outwar shouldn't be posted.

Cheers,
Wenlin in a crappy mood

Please ban this person and whatever you do, do NOT click the link.

Yes, it does lead to outwar.com, a game that is rather infamous on several forums and IRC networks. Why? Because with outwar.com, you can create so called "referrer link", meaning that anyone who clicks on your link will gain 1 low level unit in-game as a sort of "thank you" for the refferel. This has caused people to spam these links in all kinds of forums and chat networks, much to the annoyance of others, me included.

Of course, we could also strike back at these people and ruin their game accounts by causing them to be banned. How? Well, it's against game regulations to spam these links ANY way whatsoever. (It doesn't justify the fact those links even exist though) Of course, the only way to REPORT a spam is after you have clicked on it unless you know the correct URL, which I do!

click here (http://www.outwar.com/reportspam.php?id=641441)* to report the spam, fill out a nice reason and then wait for the account to get deleted. I still suggest an IP ban though, because at other forums we had issues with abusive ex-Outwar players who lost their accounts after annoying us, mwahahaha!

Reporting spam is EASY. Just take a link with embedded referral id such as
http;//www.outwar.com/page.php?x=641441
and copy that one ID number to the reportspam.php script
http;//www.outwar.com/reportspam.php?id=641441
and copy and paste that into your browser. Then file a lovely little report and hope the spammers get punished.

PS,

Do not delete this post, close it instead. I have submitted a link to this post as spamming evidence. Also, I HATE ikonboard for that stupid auto-link parsing. Grrr.
