The annual election for these three seats is the first weekend in December (Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6). Any MU* with a policy of enforced role-play may opt to run a candidate for one of the three elected seats. Only the games themselves may select a candidate for these seats but their candidate may be anyone they choose. To do so, please email staff<at>rpmud<dot>net with the name of your game's candidate, their contact information so we can verify they wish to run, and the name and contact information of your game which is sponsoring them to us by November 26. We will verify the information and contact you again before the election. We will also be emailing as many RP MU*s as we can find contact information for in the following weeks but if you see this post and know of a game that qualifies, please pass on the information. Ballots will be emailed to every RP MU* on December 5. Good luck!
From Article III of the RPMUD Network Charter: Code:
B. Elected Members
1. The Operating Committee shall contain one elected member representing each type of
Role-Playing Game as defined by Article V.
2. Elected Members shall serve terms of one (1) year except in the event of resignation
or removal. The term of office shall run from January 1 through December 31.
3. Election
a. Each open game may nominate one (1) person for their respective group
according to a process of their choice. Candidates must be selected and passed on
to the Operating Committee no later than one (1) week prior to the election. All
candidates will be confirmed by the Operating Committee no later than six (6) days
prior to the election.
b. Elections shall be held on the first full weekend of December.
c. Votes
i. Each game shall receive two (2) votes in their respective group. The
first shall be applied to a candidate representing a game other than their
own. The second shall be for their own candidate. Should a game not
utilize their first vote, the second shall not be counted. Games with or
without candidates in the running may use their votes for two different
candidates other than their own if they so choose. If a game has a
candidate in the running and they only vote for a candidate other than
their own, the second vote shall be assumed for their own candidate.
ii. Each Standing Committee member shall receive one (1) vote for
each group.
iii. In the event of a tie, a run-off shall be held the following weekend.
iv. In the event of a further tie, another run-off shall be held in which only
the Standing Members of the Operating Committee shall each cast
one (1) ballot each.
v. In the event of a further tie, the candidates shall draw lots to decide
the winner.
vi. The Election process must be completed prior to the end of the existing
term of office.
4. Standing Committee Members are not eligible to hold both Standing and Elected
office simultaneously.
5. In the event that a seat is not filled, the Operating Committee may fill the seat by
appointment at their discretion or leave it vacant. If left vacant, the empty seat shall not
calculate into quorum or any other votes.

Re: RPMUD Network Election 2009 Information
Correction on the dates of the election. Balloting will be on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6. Sorry about the wrong numbers. No idea why I typed the wrong ones.
