The forum software in use at TMS has been upgraded from the DBM (flat file) back end to the MySQL back end. You might notice some performance increase but that wasn't the main reason for the change. We plan to upgrade the forums to vBulletin and link more of the TMS functions with the forum user accounts rather than all these different logins for different functions. You can only import the SQL version of Ikonboard to vBulletin so that's the main reason for the change.

The only thing you should notice different is that, unfortunately, poll votes did not convert. All other info should remain the same.

I need a new name too, this was temporary, hmmm.

Would probably make sense, but just doesn't "feel" right. This is a very different "hat" so it should have a different name on it.

You are still the same person. Imagine IRL organizations if you had a new name for every organization you join. It would become a bit messy eventually. What you usually might get is a new title .

Also if you feel you have to "hide" yourself behind a name because of some forum trolls on TMS whining if they happen to realize you are the founder of a big MUD, then something is very wrong.

TMS has the ability to bring MUDs back to popularity. A few years ago there seemed to be many active places to discuss about MUDs. Nowadays the places that do count as active are quite inactive, or has relatively non interesting discussions.

You also see these very good MUDs with amazingly low player bases. It always confuses me. What happened?

I hope the 'new' TMS will bring the fun in MUDding back and show players that there are great games without great graphics.
