Arcane Realms - MUD Description
»[...] and the Lord God sent [Man] forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.«
Genesis 3:23

SO DID MAN. Man multiplied and spread his seed throughout the great and wondrous world of his God. Great empires were built, they fell, leaving naught but their ruins. Until the greatest empire of them all. Until Rome. Even the simple folk living on a small island north of Gaul knew of the Romans, their masters. Rome set itself in Anglo-Saxon land to the East, claiming all they saw in the name of their Caesar. Like a plague they spread, their bronzed armored army and unstoppable force. Even the barbaric Celts nearly met their end at the will of Caesar. But, like all great things, Mother Rome was soon to meet her end.

The Normans and Visigoths and countless other peoples of the Western Empire saw the weakness of Rome, and struck. Unable to defend its home, the great army withdrew to leave the simple island folk to their own devices, nearly fifty years after the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, the man proclaimed son of God by his own executioners.

The Anglo-Saxons set up their own empire on this small island, led by their king, William the Conqueror. But, when King William tried to move into the west of this island, he met resistance. There had gathered fleeing masses of Britons trying to escape his rule, the native Celts, and strange Irefolk from the sea. These people fought valiantly and repelled the Anglo-Saxon attack, and were named the Wealhas, the Outlanders. However, they had a different name for their land, and for themselves. They were the Cymri, the People, and they called their land Cymru.
