Meow. Aren't I cute?

But.. um.. where do you guys find these things? I had a picture I liked, but it was the wrong size, and I had the same problem Wenlin did with it not showing up. *pout*

Please help the avatar deprived...

Aren't you supposed to keep quiet about that?

Yui Unifex 04-19-2002 11:40 AM

I use full-size pictures that I've got lounging around. Get a free image editor, such as . Crop out the area you don't want, then simply resize it to 64x64. You can see I did this with Mustard Man and Cliche Kitty above, and Alita (the pic in my profile).

As for getting a server, I can't really help there beyond letting people use Cliche Kitty =). For some reason, nobody likes to use Mustard Man...

Poor, poor Mustard Man... (note: this does not mean I'd ever, ever use that image. *L*)

How do I put the image URL in my signature? I can't find the URL for the image I want.

Secrecy

The secrets of Freemasonry are concerned with its traditional modes of recognition. It is not a secret society, since all members are free to acknowledge their membership and will do so in response to inquiries for respectable reasons.

Its constitutions and rules are available to the public. There is no secret about any of its aims and principles. Like many other societies, it regards some of its internal affairs as private matters for its members.

The icons give a very nice window into the poster as well. Their creativity, interests, even some of their personality quirks get reflected in their avatars.
After all, we choose avatars as carefully as we choose nicks, since we use them as our presence on the net.

Here is and excellent site for avatars, all freeware:

Quicksilver 04-24-2002 02:01 AM

Ah, pixel envy...

Mia 04-24-2002 02:44 AM

I love my avatar...took me a million years to find one I liked though *mutter*

Yui Unifex 04-24-2002 03:15 PM

Mia: I'd recommend making your own 64x64 Avatar from that image you've got =). Your avatar currently forces everybody to download a ~100k 800x600 file, then resize it to 64x64. For comparison, my avatar is 2k, or 50 times smaller.

Although it's interesting you chose one of the girls from CLAMP's X series.. I've only seen the movie =).
