Sorry to upset you, but it's been open for a few days. That was my plan, also. And of course, I got on within 15 minutes of it's opening and there were already about 100 people on...

Well, IRE's certainly not running out of people to play at the moment..

Well, the game is worth it. Totally surreal, especially if you visit the Astral, but uniquely satisfying. Only IRE game I've been tempted to by credits for.

PK'd as a newbie? That's a serious problem alrighty. Can you tell me who your character was? I'll have the producers look into it.

To be fair to them, they're trying out a new method of controlling PK without just resorting to the ever-lame PK flag solution. I was pretty dubious it'd work when they proposed it and I guess we'll see over time whether it does indeed work.

My character's name is Guido, and I was PKed by Bramoud one of the times. All the deaths were caused by firewalls set up in newbie areas.

That PK problem, I think, is due to the fact that pretty much everyone is a newbie right now, and people still want to PK. Personally, I find the idea of PK as a newbie to be at least odd, but I guess there are people who find it fun somehow. It'll stop as soon as the majority settles in, graduates from newbiehood and goes on to PKing each other outside of newbie areas and leaves the newbies to do their newbie things.

Ahh, yeah, this kind of room effect is a perpetual problem. Do you just let newbies walk through them, breaking the fiction, or do you deal with the situation we have now? I'll bring it to their attention.

Thanks.

Ah, yes, Bramoud. He was not only going around putting up walls of fire in the newbie area and killing newbies, but also multiplaying and has since been shrubbed (meaning going all green and leafy and not being able to do much but rustle). It's now impossible to raise walls of fire in the newbie area.

One thing we've just implemented is a feature called the Grace of Innocence which makes it impossible for a newbie to kill or be killed by another player. It lasts until level 20 or until the player rejects his or her innocence. (And, of course, once innocence is lost, it can never be regained.) After that, the player should be familiar enough with the realm to work with the PK Avenger System. So far, we've had a very positive response to the Grace of Innocence addition.
