I just think its pathetic and sad that the US goes in and destroys Iraq without any idea of what to do afterwards, at the protest of the rest of the world. Then they have the nerve to demand that other countries come in and help pick up the bill? The bill to pay Halliburton and other US multi-nationals with close ties to the Bush administration who just -coincidentally- got no-bid contracts to rebuild Iraq. Its just ludicrous. First the Bush companies siphon off our tax dollars into this scandal of a war and into their coffers, but now they want the rest of the worlds tax dollars?
As far as the government not being set up, thats because the Bush administration foolishly convinced themselves that the Iraqi people would welcome our occupying force with flowers and open arms. Either they didn't plan on what happened after the war, or they decided not to tell us the true costs of this war. Either they're incompetent or liars. It wasn't your liberal boogeymen who said a government would be replaced in no time, that was the Bush administration. And regarding your ignorant comments about Israel and Palestine, I encourage you to do some reading on their history before you spout off some more nonsense. - Ryan |
Actually, they are both incompetent and liars.
|
Malaclypse,
Where to begin with that pathetic excuse for a reply? Shoot Delerak gave at least plausable posts that required some thinking. Your reply was just an accident waiting to happen..ok, here we go... Welcome them? Well..seems a majority of the country has welcomed them and the idea of FREEDOM over a regime that beats their citizens and goes by archaic laws. Today, in the paper, a guy was beheaded in Saudi Arabia for drug smuggling. Gee..here in the facist regiem knows as Amerika drug dealers get to go to jail, get a college education, a movoe of the week and 3 hots and a cot. Guess you didnt hear about the numerous tapes of people getting beaten because they opposed Saddam. Dont see that happening here in America do you? Heck no because the Civil Liberites union would throw a fit. As for others footing the bill, well consider..this is actually a conti8nuation of Desert Storm. That was a mostly NATO operation. The US foots 75% of the NATO bills, equipment and manpower. Has any of the NATO nations even tried to pay back their debts for that? A few but not all. Speaking of which...how many countries that protested the US involvement have gotten US tax dollars in the form of economic aid for the last decade or more and still have yet to pay it back? You might to check this out then.. unless you're going to claim it's some Bush Jr. Propaganda tool..if so..check the date. It was proposed and discussed on 05 March 1991. Sadly, you didnt comprehend my post because as I said...a government wont spring up fully ready to go over night. Shoot, Rome wasnt built in a day so why are all the Anti-Bush people and anti-American types think it's going to happen in Iraq..get a clue and buy a vowel. Even Chaney said to the press a few dozen times he didnt know how long it was going to take because starting a governemt from scratch takes time. Of course the current generation of liberal press junkies are in that "now now now" phase. Oh like the millions each year democrats GIVE to illegal aliens in the form of welfare, medicade and food stamps? Can you say welfare fraud and aiding and abeting known felons? (last I heard..comming into the country illegally is a felony) What about the Congressional 'pay raises'? Seems the Democrats in power wanted that and got that. How many starving American kids are going to go hungry as you read this post because tax payer money that Democrats and their so called 'better social reform' are going to fatten their wallets? And you complain about Bush..please...every politician in DC is guilty no matter how you look at it and it's not just an American problem..you can find governmental corruption in some form or another in any country in the world. Ok, look at what yoo posted besides that (I used the quote as sort of a bookmark) and look at what really said. As I'll say again...the anti-bush politicians are whining and complaining about "Where's this new government in Iraq??" and comments like yours. Again..look at what I said...a government does not just sping into being overnight. So basically you contradicted your piont and proved mine more. Oh..so they havent been at each other's throats for centuries?? Wow..guess a ton of sources are wrong then. Ignorant? I dont think so... Hrm..you're right..it's pretty much Isreal and everyone around them that's been at war. I guess using a current (as in the last 20yrs as current) timeframe was wrong... **1948 War of Independence **1956 Sinai Campaign **1967 Six-Day War **1973 Yom Kippur War **1982 Operation Peace for Galilee Even though UN Security Council Resolution 242, which called for "acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every state in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force." the Arab position, as formulated at the Khartoum Summit Conference (August 1967) called for "no peace with Israel, no negotiations with Israel and no recognition of Israel." Also...(takes a deep breath).... Arafat and his PNC has yet to change the |PLO Covenant| contradicting all signed agreements to date: This decision fails to meet the obligations laid out in Article XXXI (9) of the Oslo II accords in two respects. First, the actual amendment of the Covenant has been left for a future date. As of now, the old Covenant, in its original form, remains the governing document of the PLO, and will continue in this status until the amendments are actually approved. In legal terms, there is a sharp difference between calling for something to change and actually implementing the changes. According to various assessments, this understanding would require the removal of anywhere between 10 and 28 of the Covenant's 33 clauses. Palestinian officials, on the other hand, have spoken of changing far fewer clauses, and the PNC decision leaves open the question of which articles will be amended Arafat has raised a large army, the size of which far exceeds his peace accord commitments. The enormous quantity and increasingly deadly quality of the weapons he has accumulated also exceed all the limits that he had promised. The terrorist infrastructure under his control has not been dismantled. There has been no hand over of the PLO's illegal weapons, nor has there been extradition to the US or to Israel of PLO murderers of Jewish Americans and Jewish Israelis. All of this is in flagrant violations of the letter and spirit of Arafat's signed international agreements. ( ) All of this of course does not begin to cover Hamaas and their 'fun little outings' (yes..that was sarcasim) of course there's also that just adds fuel to the "Let's go to war with Isreal" fire. Ignorant? Nonsense? Pleae..go back to the school district where you graduated from and sue them for the education they robbed you of. When you're ready to debate like a big boy, you can come to the table with Delerak and I. (edited because I had 2 links next to each other *blush*) |
Freedom at the end of a gun? Have you even looked at the news lately? There are massive demonstrations just about daily in Iraq protesting the US occupation. And this is only the stuff that gets onto our media, I'm sure there are a lot more going on that we don't hear about.
What are we doing instead? We're running around in circles looking for "baathist remnants" and "al qaeda cells". Rubbish, we need to establish a legitamite government of Iraqi nationals, not assume control of all their infrastructure and commence on a wild goose chase of "terrists", to use Dubyas slang. We're not debating the pros and cons of the US justice system, we're talking about its foreign policy. Don't try to pull the same distraction tactics that your shock jock radio hosts do. I would hope you could treat the TMS audience with more respect. Probably about the same number of countries the US owes. Check your facts, the US is currently in the largest deficit in its history, and thats down from one of the best surplus' we've had in recent history (under the evil Clinton *g*). Note that deficit equals money owed to foreign countries, in case you weren't aware. Read what I said again. It is not the anti-Bush and "anti-American" types who are saying that it would have been done shortly. That was the Bush Administration. I know that governments aren't built in a day, and thats one of the many reasons I opposed this war in Iraq. Our government cannot afford an empire. Excuse me, but in this country illegal aliens are not eligable for social services. What illegals do for this country, however, are enormous. For instance, Californias agricultural economy would crash in a day if the illegals were all deported. We depend on their labor, and give them virtually nothing in return. But regardless, even if millions were spent here, it DWARFS the billions spent on thousand dollar hammers and hundred dollar screws that are paid to pentagon defense contractors. Did you know the pentagon has brought in accountants to try to fix its books, but they couldn't do it because it was so screwed up they couldn't begin. But really, that isn't a partisan issue, why are you dressing it up as such? Oh right, democrats pocketing money: EVIL!! Bush pocketing money: Hey, what can you expect from a politican? Come on, CSmith, I don't even expect this kind of two-facedness from you. Funny you should mention this. After we carved up the map after WWII, we displaced thousands upon thousands of people off their land to establish Israel. The promise at the time was a Jewish state next to an Arab state. Israel was founded shortly after with much international aid. The arab state still doesn't exist. Now Israel has been occupying the lands of the arab state for quite some time, and you're trying to tell me Palestine is the agressor? The rest of your post is clever misinformationt hat I don't have the time to answer rtight now.... I'm supposed to be clubbing! - Ryan |
Muaha, the argueing, I love it! Love it! Muahaha!
|
|
So ummm... you are advocating the use of armed force to orchestrate an ethnocentric cultural imperialism in the Middle East and - simultaneously - seek to decry the expense of your much vaunted 'human rights' by sneering at the fact that in the US we educate our felons in hope of reforming them. That we give aid and support to our poor in the hope that they can provide benefit to their society. Did I get that right?
This sort of petty, inappropriate, attack is the hallmark of a defeated debater. Please either concede now, or refrain from such derogatory commentary in the future. What facts? It's your assertion, back it up. As for what countries we owe, perhaps a primer in macro-economics is in order. When the government needs money, they order the US Treasury to issue securities (bonds) which are sold to whomever wishes to buy them. Many Americans buy them as they are a very secure form of investment, and quite inflation proof, albeit not typically large earners. These bonds can also be purchased by financial institutions both here and abroad, as well as any other foreign interest as may desire them. Thus assembling a comprehensive list of 'who the government owes money to' is not very useful to this discussion. However, if you are really curious, here is an editorial on the topic . This is pure semantics. There are plenty of valid points to discuss here, lets not get sidetracked with terminology. It's exactly this kind of hypocrisy (if it is, in fact, occurring as I have no information on the topic either way) that leads me to believe that we shouldn't be overseas shoveling our values and way of life over other peoples' culture. So by this you mean to say that we should go to the expense of capturing known felons just to let them run free to offend again? Which side of the law are you arguing? In California unemployment benefits are paid for by witholding a portion of the workers wage and placing it into escrow against the chance that they will claim it. After a time (one year, maybe two?) the money reverts to the government. In this case I'd have to say it's the Unemployment office that is leeching off the Californian worker for their own existence. This argument has no validity. It is indisputable that Bush is a warmonger. I'm sure I don't have to recount the entire list of wars the man has initiated to prove this point. Your argument that democrats are more likely to go to war than republicans is not relevant. Okay, now here we have something to work with. I don't believe that any interim government is possible in Iraq as long as the US refuses to surrender control. Currently we insist on dominating every decision made, and our efforts to stabilize the government have been toward the exact same flavor of 'stability' we've created in every other country we invaded... puppet governments. Maybe the EU is right to be more concerned with protecting their interests than with electing some marionettes in Iraq. As for the difficulties of reestablishing services within the country, why did you pick 5000? Why not 5,000,000? Are the Iraqi's too busy, lazy, stupid, barbaric to repair their own sewers or power lines? For the sake of brevity I won't beat that horse any further. I would like to know where you derived that number however. Actually, what they were supposed to create was a new state for the displaced Palestinians. Palestinians, evidently, haven't donated enough money to the election coffers of American politician however. (Okay, cheap shot, I admit it) Silrathi |
Puerto Rico. Florida. The entire Midwest. New England. Need more? And since this is the flames folder, I'll get picky: it's embassies, not embessies, and foreign, not foriegn. Nya.
I don't know about "most" unemployed, but I do know that I've been trying to find productive work for a couple of years now. Living in Connecticut, looking for work is a full time job, with no pay unless you happen to be lucky enough to qualify for unemployment compensation. Your tax dollars aren't paying for this. My prior employer is. A whopping $72 US dollars a week. Enough for groceries, but not enough to pay for the gas (at $1.90 per gallon) to get me to the supermarket. So I walk most of the time. When you get laid off from work due to cutbacks or the company moving their operations overseas, come back and tell us again how unemployed people are lazy whiners, hmm? As for the rest, I didn't read it. I don't even know what this topic is about, since all flames are just sorta thrown in together as one big mishmosh comprising six pages of stuff. Those two points did scream at me to reply, however, and so I did just that. Flame on, folks. |
|
Since the uneducated can not digest no more than a paragraph with large words in it, I will make my reply in two posts...and this is going to be fun because it seems stupidity has run rampant since some people here dont know how to read...here we go...
Malaclypse, Since you decided you say I was misleading the people with shock-jock tactics, I decided to point out my example of some of the harsh treatment people in the Middle East get now and then by their own people since they have no freedom. No freedom like oh say, due process, civil rights, etc that people here in America take for granted. Over there, public stoning, beheading, summery executiuons..all a part of life. Dont believe me? The UN's Commitie on Human Rights had brought before them a decesion to investigate further into Iraq's human rights violations in In the same month, they were shown documentation by witnesses about In July 1991, the UN said Want more? has some interesting info over there. Oh..and yes, I know you'll point out some print about the US there, but those far outweigh the non-US ones. Like banning a single firecracker because Canada built a nuke. As for going into Iraq..again..it was business unfinished. Had Clinton continued the momentum, there wouldnt have been a recent war in Iraq. There wouldnt be mass graves filled with innocents made by Iraqi's Republican Guard's or dead Kurds because of nerve agents dropped on them. Of course, you'll probably say this is all moot. If you want to be an Anarchist, then at least get your facts straight..the US is joining the WTO which is "a coalition of facist nations bent on world domination and bringing the freeman down" or something along that description. Depends on who you ask...but still..it's the WTO. As for a resposen to that..####..I think I've discussed freedom enough..just scroll back and reread where the words freedom are because I'm tired of repeating myself to people how dont listen (or refuse to) reply in 3 parts : 1. After reading my initial reply, even I thought I meant one thing..only meant 'whiners like you', never intended to call you a social parasite (unless you are) BUT therer are still social parasites out there that commit welfare fraud, etc and hide behind PC-dom and so called "rights" though I've never seen anywhere in the Constitution that says a woman can get paid for having 10 kids by the time she's 30 for a nice fat check for each. Of course, that's part of the oh-so-great social services system that liberals like to protect at any given moment. 2. I'm not a racist. I'm a realist. I personally dont give a frag if someone is from korea, canada, or mexico or Exampleton. IF you enter this country illegally it is against the law. Period. There is nothing racist about that comment. Deport them the first time caught. Second time caught, send them to a corporate owned prison where previous unemployed american workers now have jobs with benefits. As for politicians wanting to give illegals welfare checks, etc..guess you never heard of Proposition 182 that stopped this from happening. If people want into this country, then do it legally. Plain and simple. Besides, if I was racist, I wouldnt be here and would be over at some site like Stormfront.com or whereever. 3. I'm not a Republican..nor am I 2 faced..again..as I've said at least 4 times already..I only defended the current president because so many people have accused him of doing the same thing liberal presidents have done (some have done worse). If anything..I'm an independant-libertarian-neo-democratic-socialist. I wont discuss the demonstartions because a) I dont watch Fox news either and b) if I have to describe the best way to encite a riot and show how it's being done in Iraq then I know you might need the picture version of Hooked on Phonics (which btw..you dont because unlike some other twit, you actually post some replies that make me think about my replies.Kudos..and NO I am not conceeding) Here is something to think about..if someone isnt in Organization A but does actions and views like said Organization and know about that organization, are they not by defination supporting it? Well, as soon as everyone over there adheres to the Khartoum Resolutions, and Arafat eliminates the PLO (which he heads in case you forgot and also, in case you forgot, the PLO bombs pretty much anyone who isnt with them). Isreal is only defending itself. |
Silrathi,
You poor misguided twit. I could post a huge reply but you'd still fail to be able to comprehend even the most simple comments w/out a picture or two. First..if you're going to repsond to my posts, read the #### things ok? taking 1-3 sentences and jammering like an idiot only spams this board. OK sweatpea? At least Malaclypse, though I might not agreee with him, reads the posts, thinks a bit and replies with something to make me ponder and reply. You? You're like B-rad in "Malibu's Most Wanted"..a moron. Anyhoo..as for your post....Human rights? Yea..I guess you must advocate no due process, kidnappings that lead to executions with no trial, beheadings, stonings, etc. ? I think you should read my reply to Malaclypse about the same topic. Erm..do I have to go into what freedom is again..because I cant draw and I have a feeling some people need pictures. Hrm..let see...programs begun by Bush Sr. in latter part of his admin. which sent interest rates at favorable levels, then Clniton comes in and 'sets the auto-pilot' and ride the Tech bubble we had, claiming it was because of him as well as the later Surplus..like Al Gore saying he invented the internet (which Apple and M& are still laughing about) Why..we did with Ted Kennedy. More importantly..I'm siding with the side of the law that says..comming into this country is illegal. AND since we (America) can not legally shoot thses people, we have to arrest and deport them. See prior posting about this. Gee..I guess the money there just magically appears from nowhere to be handed out in the form of welfare checks, unemployment checks and food stamps right? Wrong. Get your civics lessons correct. The state doles out money to the unemployed who have it comming to them. When their 'time' for collection is up, they just apply for welfare (from taxes) and food stamps (from more taxes) and pop kids out for tax exemptions at what now? $700 a child? Actually, it does and your comment only reinforces my reply and contradicts your own. Long list of Bush initiated wars? Hrmm..try TWO..if they can be called 'wars'...Iraq and Afghanistan. As for Dems and wars vs Repubs and wars, check your history. Democrats have dragged us into wars more, screwed up military operations more and cut the military more than republicans. The reason why defense spenging is so high with Bush is because Clinton downsized and cut back a ton in the DoD. That would be akin to having a small bucket of quick-crete and having to make 20 large, 3 car driveways from it and with professional quality. First...my 5,00 number? Called..ready? "an example". You do know what one is correct? As for the EU and their 'more important matters'..theyare more hypoctitical than what America appears to be by radicals. See my last bit to Malaclypse because I hate repeating myself. |
I'm not denying that the overall human rights record in the Middle East is atrocious. I'm saying that their human rights record does not justify the US governments aggressive policies.
I'll say -again- that Saddam Husseins worst offenses occured while we were allies with him, under the Bush Sr. Administration. The gassing of the kurds occured mostly in the late 80's. We were supplying them weapons at that point in time. We turned a blind eye to the atrocity. We didn't attack Iraq the first time until he went against our wishes in 1991 when invading Kuwait... which I believe also happens to be a major base for the US military in the middle east. But thats just coincidence, right? It was for "Human rights". I never mentioned anarchy, and I'm not an anarchist in any sense of the word. Regarding the WTO: Thats exactly what I'm saying! Its an economic empire. International treaties pushed by the WTO require foreign governments to open their water, utility, and agriculture industries to US based multinational corporations, and they're lured by needed financial relief from the World Bank. Ok, maybe you're not racist. Maybe you just don't understand that a law is stupid when it requires that vital and helpful members of our society be deported. I live in california, so I've seen personally what type of situation illegal immigrants are in. They use virtually no social services, because they have no documentation, and they contribute long hours doing labor that noone wants to do for a fraction of what is the legal minimum wage. Because of this, California's agriculture business has become dependent on them. The situation there is that Israel is occupying Palestine. Now you could say that Palestine is attacking Israel and Israel is just responding just as easily as you could say the opposite: Palestine is merely reacting to Israeli aggression. But clearly the point is that before the violence will stop, Israel will have to pull their army out of Palestine, and stop occupying and settling on large portions of their land (regardless of the morality of originally displacing them to form Israel). As far as Arafat supporting the suicide bombers, it could be debated on end because noone really knows for sure. My take on it is that he doesn't make concerted efforts to stop it only because he lacks the resources. It seems like it would be in his best interest to be able to stop the suicide bombers, because then he might be able to establish a true government, and subsequently a real army under his command, rather than islamic extremists. - Ryan |

Yowch! Seems as though we have an arguement that would make Jerry Springer cringe! I haven't really followed this topic through and through, but just by the name of the thread, I think I'm making myself a viable target... just wanted to point out that it's become a war, not just a flame, an arguement, a 'heated discussion'... it's becoming a war.

America thinks they own the moon too. Don't forget the moon.

Just a bit of a rant, but has anyone else noticed how the "Recent Forum Discussions" on the front page never seems to contain anything other than promotions? With some people posting a separate advert for each job position, some repeating the exact same post on both the players and staff forums, and others constantly bumping their old ads (either with more advertising or sometimes even just the word "bump"), it's hardly surprising, but it's basically made the recent discussions list useless for actually following recent discussions. And on the rare occasions when there is actually a discussion, it turns out just to be Soljax crying about how he's been mistreated for cheating.
|
This is obviously a gross mischaracterization.
Soljax is complaining because his well-meant playtesting and superior game-balancing skills are being ignored on a constant basis by all those ungrateful imps who should be thanking him on their knees for the invaluable time he spends on their games. They should all be RUSHING to get his advice instead of perma-banning him, yet he only earns ingratitude and insults. BTW, KaVir, I'm sure you _need_ a scathing review explaining the fine points of the balancing mistakes between the Cobra, Asp and Viper stances wielding a main gauche on Glad 3. Why don't you let Soljax handle it? I'm pretty sure he'll also have lots to say about the black knight. |
Dear Soljax:
Please don't play Armageddon. You won't like it anyway. There is no game balance. This is intentional. No one wants game balance in Armageddon. If there was such a thing, then everyone would be the same. That would be boring. Boring is a bad thing. I'll save you the trouble: Armageddon's game balance is non-existent, and it ain't gonna change for you, or anyone else. There. There's your review. Now go find some hack-n-slash you can "win" like a good boy, hm? |
I'd accept your challenge but I'm in the middle of finals season. Give me two weeks.

Achaea sucks. Just felt like saying that.
|
First of all, I just wanted to say that I agree completely. Your insightful flame is a boon to MUDers everywhere, but it's missing some valuable information for those who may want to see just how much it sucks. May I suggest visiting:
I find the worst thing about Achaea is that it's quite popular. If you're looking for a MUD that nobody else likes, this is not the place for you. Perhaps some of these quotes may help to convince other people of its extreme suckitude as well. Remember: STAY AWAY, it sucks! "A widely respected MUD that downplays the traditional monster bashing in favor of highly developed player vs. player politics, economics, and world affairs." - about.com "This is an RPG that harkens back to the good old days and is immensely popular." - G4/TechTV "One of the biggest online text-based games." - Wired.com "Few virtual worlds with an immensely complicated combat system avoid being completely dominated by it -- Achaea is the best-known exception." -- Dr. Richard Bartle, Inventor of MUDs "I don't believe there's another game in existence with this much depth." - John Romero, Co-creator Doom and Quake. In summary then, I think we can see that Achaea sucks ballz. Permit me to also warn you to stay away from other sucky games: And you'll want to stay away from the evil company that owns all these sucky games: Since the games are free to play, you too can witness first hand how much they suck without having to open your wallet! --matt |
|
I've never had gonorrhea, but Achaea sucks so bad that I can't see how having some measly venereal disease could be worse. Thus, I maintain that Achaea is NOT better than a case of screaming gonorrhea.
--matt |
Real quotes this time?
Anyways, I can give many reasons why Achaea sucks: 1) The staff: Achea's staff aren't really human but are the infernal spawn of satan. The logos thinks he is in charge but it is really a cult of Satan(aka. Bill Gates) worshipers and vampires. 0/10 2) The Graphics: Achaea's graphics suck. 0/10 3) The Storyline: Iron Realms releasing a mud in order to gain more money. That stories been repeated so many times... 0/10 4) Payment: Not only do you have to pay money to become become ub3r powerful. You have to sacrifice your first born to become really powerful. 0/10 5) Overall coolness: Achaea starts with the letter a. The letter a stands for awfully uncool. 0/10 6) Politics: Achaea is played by lots of people. There were lots of people that voted for a bad canidate last election. Achaea must be at fault 0/10 7) XP: Achaea gives 2000xp to the first person who says "Achaea rocks my socks!" on the public channel each day. Free xp! 10/10 8) Classes: the classes Achea reminds me of the most are the ones I attend at school 0/10 9) Races: its a race to get Iron Realms the most money! Capitalism at its best! 10/10 10) Levels: Achea is really easy to level up in (especially if you are favored by the staff) 10/10 30/100, F, Achaea suxxors! |
I'd like to provide the sucky game Achaea with some more of this excellently free publicity, because a game that's so unbelievably sucky needs it, badly. So let's go into your reasons a bit more:
Well, ignoring the fact that I think it's unfair to malign Bill Gates or Satan by comparing him to Achaea's staff, I mainly agree. I'm not sure you really captured the depths of their depravity though. I have to disagree here. I think they deserve worse than a 0, because not only does it barely have graphics, the graphics it does have are done using colored ASCII characters. I give it a -1 for graphics. I'm not sure I entirely follow this but because it seems to be slamming Achaea, I agree completely. Trying to make money at something = suckage. I know I steadfastly refuse to buy food from any supermarket that is trying to make money. Why? Because they SUCK, just like Achaea. God they suck so badly! Actually, I found a bug the other day in Achaea. A bug that exists in the design, because the designers SUCK. I discovered that it's actually possible to get anything you want in the game without ever spending a dime. I even met people that were abusing this 'bug' and had been getting away with it for years. Yet another reason Achaea SUCKS: They don't plug up design holes like this by forcing you to spend money to play or get good! THAT SUCKS. Fix bugs you idiot developers over there. I am not sure this is sound reasoning. I mean, while Aetolia also starts with an 'a', neither Imperian nor Lusternia start with an 'a' and they still suck. I think we need a broader rule here than merely starting with an 'a', though that's probably a good place to start. Preach ON, brother man! Who were those idiots who voted for Viktor Yushchenko anyway? Putin doesn't approve of him and as all reasonable people know, "Putin is puttin' the R back in Russia." Once again, Achaea sucks. Oooh, no no, you are sadly mistaken here. You should not be rating this a 10/10. In fact, what Achaea does, so I have heard, is give 20,000 xp to the first person each day who can provide evidence of having kicked a puppy. They have to provide a photo of themselves kicking a puppy while holding up a sign that says, "Achaea rocks my socks!" so you know they were kicking the puppy specifically for the bonus. I can't get down with puppy-kickers. What?? No, you're crazy. EVERYBODY on these boards with an ounce of sense knows that capitalism is evil and that charging people money for things makes you SUCK. You're simply wrong here. This is a 0/10. ACHAEA SUCKS. Ok, but don't you think it could be easier to level up? And another thing that sucks about Achaea is that it's not all about monster bashing and gaining levels. I think that sucks. Any game where I can't succeed by mindless bashing of NPCs SUCKS. I'd fire your ass if you taught at a school I ran. Professors like you are what cause grade inflation. Achaea gets no higher than a 5 or so. 30 indeed. *scoff* In summary, yet again, Achaea sucks so hard it makes those fancy new Dyson vacuum cleaners look crap. --matt |
Nice new promotion stunt.
10/10 |
Thanks! I figure if I have to put up with some dumbass flaming us, I will simply turn it into a bonus for us. Everytime a flamewar about Achaea appears here, our creations from Topmudsites spike a bit. Thus, everybody wins! The flamers get to have their little juvenile outbursts, and we get more players. Woot!
--matt P.S. Iron Realms secretly based all its games off the DIKU codebase. Discuss amongst yourselves! |
Aha! Its Vyrce @ Medievia in disguise!
|
Well that would certainly explain why you keep provoking people into starting flame wars. It's just a pity you don't show half as much consideration for other posters as you do for the constant promotion of your products - these forums are for other muds as well, you know, and not all publicity is good publicity.
|
Maybe Achaea is based on code stolen from the Medievia codebase!
Darnit, I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight for counting how many points of irony that sentence has in it. |
Oh my... you mean if peole start flaming Midnight Sun as well more people will visit our MUd?
woo woo! Great! Bring your flaming torches and set me to flames you scoundrels.... you all suck. ONLY I know best.... you..... you..... hmm just run out of insults to get other people to flame me.. Any pointers ? It seems I am still an amateur in this game... Beren the amateur Midnight Sun |
OMG. Beren, you're soooo in trouble. Report at my office tomorrow at dawn and remind me you are there to be executed.
Now, seriously... I can understand why Matt does this. What I can't understand is why the rest of us always so willingly play along. Yes, me right now including. :P |
Hey, if some jackass chooses to flame us, that's his problem. Nobody has to flame. They choose to do so and all blame rests on their shoulders for doing so. I'd suggest taking your etiquette reminders and aiming them at the people actually doing the flaming.
And while all publicity isn't good publicity, I've yet to see a single flame-inspired discussion about any of our games on this site that didn't end up being good publicity for us. If we have to put up with idiots attacking us for silly reasons, then you're going to have to put up with me turning those attacks into advantages for us. *shrug* --matt |
Because they can't help themselves. A couple of the chronic flamers are like rabid little squirrels who are horribly frustrated that another squirrel has a bushier tail than they do or something. They're so desperate to tear down the other squirrel that they'll find any excuse (often blatantly made up) to flame said squirrel, regardless of whether it's actually helping the other squirrel or not. It's very silly behavior, but then, rabid squirrels are not known for high levels of discernment or restraint.
--matt |
Wow, that's a very intuitive guess, though the truth is somewhat more complicated. We did originally start by stealing the Medievia codebase, but then we invented time travel and jumped forward in time to steal the Worlds of Warcraft codebase. We stripped out all those unnecessary graphics, changed the focus of the game to be on community dynamics rather than monster bashing, and off we went! But don't tell Blizzard please. They'll be ****ed.
--matt |
*ahem* Beren, Beren, Beren. Your namesake went through #### and back to recover a silmaril from Morgoth and THIS is the best you can do? The dude had his hand bit off and you pay homage to him with THIS? Let me help you along a bit.
[FLAME ON] MIDNIGHT SUN SUCKS! It's well known that you guys stole the MUD I codebase and have been using it for your own nefarious purposes since then. You, Beren, are the illegitimate lovechild of George Bush (senior) and Margaret Thatcher, which explains why you're SO ****ING UGLY. In fact, I've never seen a MUD filled with uglier, stupider people than Midnight Sun. The very name offends the ears. "Midnight Sun". What, are we all retarded Aleutians now, living above the Artic Circle? God ####, I hate Aleutians and I hate your MUD. I created a character there once and the first thing I saw was all of the admins gang-raping a young girl NPC. It was disgusting, but they were loving it. You people are SICK and should be BANNED from Topmudsites until you all sit in jail for a good 5 years first. Now go to #### and never come back. The MUD community doesn't need losers like you. [/FLAMEOFF] See? You just have to put a little more 'oomph' behind a flame if you want it to be effective. It helps to sound slightly loony and out of touch with reality too, since that's one of the trademarks of chronic flamers. Making things up is also excellent. Note how I accused your staff of gang-rape, for instance, which I feel safe in assuming is a complete falsehood. Say, you should try to pick up some tapes of Lewis Black's comedy routines. He throws off some excellent insults that you could adapt to this board if you're so inclined. --matt Edit: Does anyone else thinks it's weird that ****ING makes it through the profanity filter, but '####' doesn't? |
Buying credits from Iron Realms is more of a waste of money than a monthly subscription to Runescape. Who buys these things? Here's a hypothetical situation:
Joe: Hey Bill, maybe if we offered people a way to give us real money for fake things in an imaginary world, we can be rich! Bill: My god Joe, you're a genius! I'll get started on the game right away, meanwhile, you can start a company based on the exchange of real money for nothing. Joe: I'll get right on it boss! P.S. I decided I'd drag Runescape into this for the #### of it, screw you Jagex! Just fueling the flames you guys. |
Yeah, screw that! I'm throwing away my copy of Office and all my video games, because who would pay for 1s and 0s! In fact, from now on, I think I'll refuse to pay for any services, such as the advice of a lawyer. If it doesn't get my a physical object, it must be worthless! ####, why should I pay for a movie? It doesn't get me anything but an experience! It's ridiculous! Hollywood is trying to rip us all off! They should spend hundreds of millions of dollars on Lord of the Rings movies and let me watch them for free! Same with Disneyland! What the #### do I get out of it but an experience? Why should I have to pay for an experience?!
My god, you're a genius. Thank you for enlightening us as to the worthlessness of anything that isn't a physical object. --matt |
You bring up an interesting point, why should we pay for movies when we could go out and have some adventures ourselves? I'd rather go out and do something personally than watch some schmuck in a movie pretending to do something. Movies are a waste of my hard-earned cash.
|
Yeah! So is reading, and art, and music! Screw culture!
--matt |
Three points:
I like books. The new art is no more art than the trash can in my back yard. New music is nothing but a bunch of people complaining. Get up and do something you pansies! The Greek logos means study of. |
A real cultural sophisticate you are! Well done! Art sucks! Yeah!
--matt |
I do play computer games though. Not that those are very culturally sophisticated.
|
Hrrmph. Can we leave the poor squirrels out of this please?
--Jemima Bushytail, Admin. Tales of the Riverbank MUX |
Heh heh heh. Sorry about that. I assure you I meant no offence to squirrels, whom I am generally quite fond of, providing they're not trying to chew through the birdfeeders again.
--matt |

|
Well, that's all right then, but...
Actually, we squirrels don't flame each other in our MUX. We live in a Marxist Utopia (anagram) where every squirrel is equal and each of us get rewarded (usually hazelnuts more often than not) according to our needs and we all live rapturously in one big happy treetop. Carry on. But please -do- be more careful in future. --Jemima Bushytail, Hibernating Admin, Tales of the Riverbank MUX, port: something or other I shouldn't be surprised. |
