* FidoCon welcomes other MU* community members to hold their own seminars during the online convention weekend. Whether you've got a general MU*-related topic to discuss or you want to pitch a new game or code engine, you're welcome to use our space if you're willing to take the time. We just ask that you get everything set for attending and holding your sessions by Feb. 28, 2007.

Main Contest: Individual Achievement in Text-Based RP Performance

Rules

* Visit

* Post examples of your RP on that page, including your character name and the game where it appears.
* Send email to listing your page in the MUWiki and include a valid email address for us to contact you.
* During the FidoCon weekend, we'll announce the best Individual Achievement in Text-Based RP Performance.
* The top roleplayer gets a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. Second place gets a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. Third place gets a $10 gift certificate. We'll also showcase the top three achievers in the MUWiki.
* Attendance at FidoCon won't be necessary to win.
* Submission deadline: Feb. 28, 2007

Hmm - do our references all have to be from the same MUD? Would a mixture of MUD references and free-form chat-based RP be acceptable? Do they need to be in-game RP instances, or could they be "RP Notes" in-game or short stories written about our characters?

It needs to be interactive RP. Doesn't all have to be from the same MUD. We're not looking for prepared storytelling expertise. We're looking for how well someone performs on the fly, in real time.

Xotl, your concerns are appreciated, but you and the players from Accursed Lands are the ONLY people who entered the contest, with 24 hours notice. I would not be doing ANY favors trying to judge the work you've done in that time frame while also trying to put on an online convention that's not garnered much interest this time around.

I'll be happy to peruse the logs and give some feedback so it's not a total waste for you, but I hope you can understand that any awards based off of a few submissions from ONE game would torpedo any credibility for the contest.

The new faces on the MUWiki are always welcome, but even if I judged among 12 RPers from Accursed Lands, it would still have the perception of being focused on one game. That's where the award's credibility would come into question. Now, if your 12 RPers from Accursed Lands have samples of their RP from other games (as well as Accursed Lands) that they could post next time, I wouldn't feel quite as hesitant.
