Yes, that was a bad analogy *sorry*
And yes, I agree that everyone has their own opinion as to what makes a good MUD. This is why I was thinking a measure of active users would at least provide a popularity metric.
For new members to the community, I think they are better served by a list based on this rather than the existing lists.
