Hmmm you really got me thinking.
Sometimes I miss being a newbie. Everything seemed more fun then, even if I didn't understand half of it. When I did something it was really an accomplishment because I'd never done it before and I was figuring out how to do it.
So why do I keep playing, years after the new has worn off?
I love being a part of the gameworld. I love playing different chars and seeing things from different perspectives. I love getting to know different groups of people and participating in their shared madness. I love seeing how people react to me depending on what kind of char I'm playing. I love watching history unfold, even if it's hard to remember what each char knows half the time. I love it when someone mentions one of my old chars and I can see what they REALLY think of them now that they're not around to make a comment. Sure I like it when my chars get famous, but I don't expect all of them to and it's just as fun watching the interactions even when they're not all good.
I don't try to be the best, heck sometimes I just stand around rp'ing and not practicing. I just try to be part of the world, because that's what I enjoy.
