Homemade Maps
So, I've just finished cobbling together a map of , using some javascript and a series of transparent .PNGs. I'm going to stratify the layers drastically further (I clumped them all together to make the testing a lot easier), but do you all have any suggestions for fun other informatics you usually put in your maps?
You can see the map . Current ideas: -racial distribution -population density -imports/exports -trade winds -elevation -climate -most- and least-traveled -danger |

Re: Homemade Maps
I'm a huge fan of mapping myself, and it looks great so far!
I think you've got all the important information there. I'd really only put in information that's useful to gameplay. The one thing I learned about mapping that stands out above all others is that you CAN put way too much information in your map. The best thing about your map is that you can hide and show information at will. That keeps it from being too cluttered. Love that. |

Re: Homemade Maps
Hrm, good idea. Also marginally worried about load times, since, while this isn't TERRIBLE, it's not lightweight, either.
