Newbie Help

Looking for a roleplay MUD.
Would like a MUD that has the following:
* Mini-map on screen. Personal preference, can't play a MUD where I have to look at a map constantly, a map that shows my exits on a map is greatly sought.

* roleplay isn't recommended but enforced/mandatory. So if I bump into any other characters/players I immediately know I can RP with them.

Don't think I'm asking for much, if I could be pointed out to a MUD with these things I'd gladly appreciate it.

I wish you the best of luck, but it is my personal belief that those 2 features are incompatible and contradictory.

MUDs that have mini-maps invariably result in people spending a lot of their time fully focused on the mini-map. That draws your eyes away from the main screen, which means you miss chat/RP.

has map options for the main cities, but you have to stop and type a command to look at the map (some of those maps are magical and even show your location on the map). That's about as far as we're willing to go because of the other reasons I mentioned.

has been mandatory RP since 1996. It is one of the oldest RP required games on the internet.

If your not opposed to "pay for play"dragon realms has nice role play and the genie client also something you buy (as a one time fee)has and awesome map system.

I haven't come across a mud that has both. The only roleplay mud I know that is adrenaline rush, heart breaking, nemesis loathing, God King worshiping, vivid enough to feel like a real world in its immersion is

If a map is more important to you than being RP required, then an IRE game might be your style. I haven't played Achaea, but in Lusternia people seem willing to roleplay despite the game not being listed as RP required (and the RP I have gotten into is about the same in quality to MUDs like Threshold / NWA, though not as in-depth as Armageddon).

Take a look at which has a mapper that you could use with any mud.

Not any MUD. UL is pretty good at killing mappers with its loads of non-cardinal exits.
