Re: Looking for MUD that allow bots
I'm very intrigued by this idea because for games that have any elements of HnS, some of the least exciting parts of the game is the NPCs/mobiles. They're always limited by whatever the devs have programmed. On the other hand, if a player is playing them, they have very little predictability and can end up being nothing more than unbalanced PvP conflict. Allowing players to build AI and bots for the mobs seems a nice mixture of the two.
How to go about running something like this? Our NPCs/mobiles don't use very much player code though players and mobs can share the same powers and command paths. Have players log on as mobiles and move them around? Just use player characters? Hmm. The idea has merit, but I'm not sure how to pull off the actual event. |

Re: Looking for MUD that allow bots
I'm actually against this. On NWA we have what we call INPCs (Interactive Non Playing Characters) that are run by players and staff. Bots to me are not this, but rather just like AI characters (which we also have). Having players program and use bots seems to be less than more.
