| Vincent's Hollow LPMUD, established on April 28, 1991, is one of the older LPMUDs on the Internet. Its founders come from the classic LPMUDs of the 1990-1991, such as SunMUD, SherlockMUD, GraniteMUD, Darker Realms, and Shattered World. It's an LPmud-style world with many extensions. VH, as it is affectionately called by its players and wizards, was established with the simple principle of being different, at a time when a lot of LPMUDs were constructed of the same stock world with a church, a humpedback bridge, an orcs' cave, and Leo the Lion. It was one of the first LPMUDs to install a player-operated guild system (not exactly clans, but similar I think), multi-class and skill system, and advanced magic casting. There are a zillion races and, since multiclassing is allowed, a lot of possible skills. And yes, we're PK, but people generally don't unless, for example, a char with thief skills keeps stealing from them. I think the last PK was several months ago. VH also focuses on other fun factors other than monster-smashing. We have various on-line games you can play with your fellow adventurers. The general message line is free (no SP cost). You can freely create your own local and remote emotes on the fly using emote and emoteto. We also sponsor real life parties (most of them in Iowa) where players and wizards from around the country come and join us couple times a year to have real life fun (usually for Halloween and New Year). The mud has been a little quiet lately, and we welcome newbies. Response time is very good; the mud has a dedicated machine. Wizards are active and friendly, and there are new areas coming on line. So if you want a place to hang out with friends, kill monsters, goof off, and even someday become a wizard, come on over. |
