| World of Antra - MUD Description | |
| A high fantasy GMUD with extensive in-game illustration, World of Antra runs on an original codebase written in Java, and provides a Flash client for display and interaction via a web browser. Designed for solo exploration and adventures in a world shared with others. Speech with other players and natural form interaction with NPCs is typed via keyboard. A mouse is used for movement from room to room, selecting items, striking opponents, etc. As of this writing, the quest mechanism is going into release (finally). There exists the ability to kill a lot of stuff, stacking up experience points which are compared publicly in a display on the game page. Character longevity is not guaranteed, so there are no penalties for anarchic behavior at the moment--nothing "really" counts yet, though at some point it will! (Ample warning will be provided.) A lengthy FAQ documents available features, and is updated on our website every time something new is added to the game itself, and when current features are upgraded. Intra-player and admin communication is provided outside of the game via private U2U messaging and public forum debate. In game, a broadcast channel may be accessed by typing a prefix command. Mac/Win/Linux access is provided through a browser with a Flash plugin. Please make sure ports 80 AND 8080 are open. The game uses 8080 for signalling and 80 to provide the graphical content. The supporting website sprawls across more than four hundred pages of setting detail and background information. |
