Howdy
Hello, long time MUDer, first time poster (I think). However I have been a forum reader for quite a long time and enjoy everyone's thoughts/idea/tips on MUDing and running a mud.
I am an avid builder (have been building for around 6 years now), using OLC on ROM based MUDs and have recently come to a brand new MUD where the world is completely stock atm and we currently have a small, very talented staff, working toward making the MUD unique and very enjoyable. The staff itself comes from a variety of MUDs, however, we all share 1 MUD in common, our first real MUD The Turning Point, which is no longer online save for once a year for reunions. So, I will post when I can on the coding/building forums to help anyone I can get everything together as I learn it, and will post my questions there as well. If anyone is bored, or would like to help out a new MUD that is RP enforced, please visit Thanks, and looking forward to helping out/learning from the community! ~Eric |

Re: Howdy
Thanks for the warm welcome! I agree with the other thread guy that recently posted, MUD communities are much more friendly than MMOs. I still play WoW, but it has taken a BIG backseat to getting my MUD up and running and having text-based fun! People always wonder why a text based game is more fun than a graphical one, I say imagination pwns text anytime, and is often a richer environment when it comes to actually having a community of players who all know eachother, and the content provides a much more interesting atmosphere.
P.S. - Power to the builders! So much on our shoulders with a large world, true building takes prowess and great concentration! Of course Coding is a lot of fun as well. |
