As for MUDs, there certainly is no legal problem allowing a "James Bond" character name in a game that's not about spies and espionage.
Fair enought. There can be in such a Game a Character named "James Blanchart" whose real last name is "Bond", but doesn't use it because of all the trouble its given him both in and out of the business.
