Morons - I'm sure the script kiddies are pleased with themselves. It does indeed take some skill to exploit a vulnerability in that version of phpBB that's been plastered all over the phpBB homepage for a couple weeks now. <roll>
Just once I'd like to get an IP and a name on some of these punks and forward them to my friend at the US Attorney's office. Sadly, nothing lasting could really be done about it, but mommy and daddy might be a little perturbed at junior by a visit from their friendly neighborhood FBI. Sorry to see you guys got nailed. Let me know if there's anything I can do. |

Hopefully one of these posers will accept my challenge to a duel to the death with bone swords.

Well, if script kiddies taking the board down for a couple of days is the worst thing that ever happens to us, I'll be happy.
For our players -- Brix should have the boards patched and back up this weekend. He said they didn't mess with the database, so all of the old posts are intact. Apologies to those undergoing serious withdrawal. |

Thanks Sanvean - and to folks who might be wondering, this kind of quick and efficient response is typical of our staff members.

Update: we're waiting for our hosting service to supply some backups before putting the boards back up. My hope is that they'll be up today or tomorrow - Wednesday at the latest.
To admins running php discussion boards - please let our cautionary tale remind you to install security updates as soon as possible. We'd briefly deferred doing one, and got zapped as a result. The folks that got into our boards have stated that their objective is to grief as many online game sites as they can, and they are probably running their script against any boards they can find. |

With an app waiting for approval, and no GDB to occupy me until it gets done, I'm utterly lost today. Curse these fools and everything they stand for.
Glad to know it's being fixed, though. Thanks for keeping us up to speed, San. -WP |

Bone swords really are the best swords for duels.
