Midkemia Online: New Iron Realms MUD!
I just recently heard about this MUD. Does anyone know how far in development the game is? Will it be original? Please let me know. I love Achaea, so I can't wait for this new MUD to come out!!!

You might find more information on the Midkemia Online forums:
[HUMOUR]If I were the one creating the mud, it would be called "Chaos Wars". The players would take on the role of the Valheru, creating lesser creatures (such as elves and pantathians) to serve them as slaves, and riding throughout the universe on their dragons, plundering worlds and fighting gods...[/HUMOUR] |

Just poking a little fun at myself, and at the type of mud I usually seem to end up creating.

Freaking Pantathians and their fuss-causing ways.

Pfft, nah, pantathians are a Low/Mid level grind if that.
Servants of Nalar, on the other hand... Oh ****, I said the N-word! I didn't mean to! *Idles out in the temple of Arch-Indar* |

It's been in development for quite a while, should be interesting to see when it comes out. MKO, some other secret mud and Earth Eternal... IRE(well techincally now EE is under Sparkplay Media) is going to take over the gaming world, heh.

Re: Midkemia Online: New Iron Realms MUD!
I want to get excited.. I really do. The books (Magician, etc though Honoured Enemy was the peak and the best of all the books) are amongst my favourites, and a MUD based in this world is an exciting concept.
But I gave up on IronRealm games a long time ago (after many many attempt to like them) due to lack of naming rules, real life conversations in the game (Midkemia's atmosphere will not survive with characters chatting about the latest PS3 game) , and getting headaches coping with the sheer amount of unbroken text that can appear on screen (ever head of paragrpahs). I know that I am clearly a minority, and I suppose once you are used to the system its not a problem, hence why the games are so popular. Mind you the helpers in the games are second to none, even once spotting I was having issues with the commands and jumping in to help unasked. When you have text games that are a pleasure to read and soothing on the eye such as Threshold, or laid out in a nice easy fashion such as Materia Magica, Newworlds, Armaggeddon, unless this new MUD addresses the flaws in the engine, its one I shall only (sadly) look at for a brief time before movnig back to somthing more digestible. |

Re: Midkemia Online: New Iron Realms MUD!
looking at the midkemia forums, i dont think i will like this game as much as the other iron realms muds. The other ones arent based on any books or tv shows orr movies, but are all original. Achaea is beutiful, but imperian is nice too. Iron realms said they have another mud in development too. I wanna know what it is!!!!!! Also looking forward to earth eternal. keep up the good work iron realms!

Re: Midkemia Online: New Iron Realms MUD!
It sounds like you were in Achaea, which is known for being more relaxed on those things. I'd suggest trying out Imperian or Lusternia if you want to give them another try. Both of those games are pretty strict on naming and no OOC chatter(with the exception of OOC clans, but you have to choose to be in those).
And for Kaleo, does sound interesting... as long as it's original. |
