New Database / Voting software Live.
Mentioned earlier in the week but this update is now live and all MUD owners should now be able to migrate their database listing to their forum account using the instructions here:
More info is in the file, but the main reasons to do so are:If you haven't checked out the new mudlisting yet take a look at or the search at I'm sure there'll be some minor issues and clean up, over the next few days. Let me know of any problems. Once a few of the regulars here have tried it out I'll email the owners of MUDs listed that don't visit the site as often. Thanks! |

I just want to say publicly that it's awesome to see you taking such an active hand in improving one of the major text MUD sites.

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
is displayed wrong if I use the TMS-light theme. The frame for the input fields is displayed in a black background, and the field captions has black foreground too so you can't see what is written.

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
If this is posted somewhere else, or if it's just me - please forgive me ahead of time. It's late and I'm extremely tired.
Is something wrong with the voting links? I didn't see the post about the new changes until today. This is the first time in front of my computre in a week, so I sat down to vote from my mud's webpage, and when I tried - I got the TMS portal page (that has a new look) where you click on the "Vote for <you mud name>" link. Only, it wasn't a link, it was just a picture that did nothing. Thinking that there might be some new changes, I came here - found out about the new DB, and I followed the instructions: logged in, claimed my mud under my login, and even made some changes including vote keyword. So I went back, editted my webpage and uploaded it, but it's still not working. When I click on the icon to vote and get the portal page, the picture that says "Vote for The Adventurers' Inn" does not work. Is something wrong, or did I mess something up? I might have even missed another post somewhere, but I couldn't find anything. Can anyone help? |

The same goes for the page where you edit the info about your Mud.
All input fields are illegible, unless you highlight them. |

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
I think the error is the quote in "The Adventurers' Inn". Try remove it and see if that works. This is of course a bug.

Yah, I had the same problem with my mud. removing the apostrophe from the mud name fixed the problem. Hopefully we can get it fixed shortly so that i can put the apostrophe back in.

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
Could it be possible to add IMC2, and intermud3 checkboxes to the listing? Perhaps even a textbox where you could fill in what network your MUD is connected to?

The issue with an apostrophe on the gateway page should be fixed now - that page has javascript in it and the ' in mud name was not being correctly escaped.
Sorry folks, no doubt there will be more but will get them taken care of as quickly as possible. Definitely possible. Would like to get these changes in and settled though before adding more and there's still a big piece of the old TMS missing ... the reviews. Last edited by Lasher : 08-25-2007 at 11:39 AM. |

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
The light stye still needs some work, like that button on the main list (ugh), but the edit/create pages should be useable now.
Thanks. |

I'd like to thank Lasher for being so extremely patient and helpful, when I had problems with migrating our Mud info.
That's what I call good service! |

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
Went to the vote page for the mud I play via direct link "http://www.topmudsites.com/vote-aodmud.html" (as always) and it said I was voting for "Age of Darkness", not "Ages of Despair"... Is there some more serious issue in the database than just the minor glitches noticed so far?

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
AOD was one of the invalid keywords I saw votes coming in for and fixed manually - seemingly not with much success in this case. My bad.
I noticed you changed the keyword to 'aod' so don't want to go back and change it when you might have already changed your inbound link. In the meantime I've removed that keyword from Age of Darkness so they won't be getting your votes (or missing their own) and if you want to set your keyword back to 'aodmud' you should be able to from your edit mud page now that no other MUD has it. |

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
This seems to be the post most being used for new issues related to the changes. Just wanted to let you know I'll be out until tonight - taking my daughter to a Disney concert in Lakeland. So, not ignoring anyone ......

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
I posted a comment on the issue on the mud, so hopefully someone that is admin there will take a look. I don't exactly have the authority, being just player there. lol I am not sure they even know the changes where happening. If they did, then I may need to look at the website and see if they changed the inbound, since I use a page I made to go to the links, instead of loading all the clutter on the main site for the game. Could be my goof.

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
I now have our MUD (Throes of Creation) switched over, but for some reason when editing the "New accounts require validation" will not save. Just passing that along. We do not require validation of new accounts.

I'll second a desire for these options as well. But no rush, settling things in is far more important right now.

This one is fixed now. It was actually saving correctly but displayed incorrectly in the detailed mudinfo page. Thanks for posting it.

Re: New Database / Voting software Live.
I switched Dartmud over today, and we recently went on a vote drive. According to the 'list muds by rank' from the 'Mud list' menu on the forums, we should be rank 21. However, the front page doesn't show us at all in ranks 21-40. The list muds by rank shows both Evaryon and Xyllomer at 22 and they are both shown. Seems to be a glitch here.
Also, Distand Lands and A Moment in Tyme are both listed as 19, and there is no 20. Last edited by Ogma : 08-25-2007 at 11:28 PM. |
