Has anyone had the problem keeping consistency with the fluctuations on stats in objects and mobiles in SMAUG? For instance, if you were to build an object and shopset the item, the item level will change at the next reset. Same goes for mobile stats. What solutions did you find? If I missed a simliar post I apologize, and I am sure I will catch a few flames as a result.

I am not familiar with Smaug codebase but I have seen on muds I have built on where little guidance is given as to what is considered reasonable for obj/weapon stats which can lead to similar problems.
As head builder where I am now, to maintain consistency and balance I am trying to give more guidance on the building end of things to make this less pressured for the coders and to keep the game fun for all our players. |

Ok, just how big of a variance are we talking here? Honestly, a little bit of variety imho is good. +/- 2 levels or so, some varied stats on armor, sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker. That's not necessarily a bad thing, that keeps people on their toes...
