Looking for a MUD
After playing MUDs for a while, I have found what features I like in a Mud. I'm looking for a MUD which have ALL of the features listed below:
1. emotes where your name can appear anywhere in the emote and not just the beginning. 2. pets and loyal companions that you can control to speak AND emote with. 3. No permadeath. Dying of old age is alright I suppose, but I want my character to have a long playing life. 4. Rp enforced. I would prefer if there weren't any OOC channels. 5. At least two active players online at all times. I don't want to be the only one online. I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any recommendations. But please only recommend Muds which fit ALL the criteria described above. Thank you in advance. |

Re: Looking for a MUD
I've played New Worlds before- last time for about a year. I found that there were, at any given time, a lot of people logged in to the game, but not so many of them were actively playing. My character had knowledge of about 15-20 people (in the game, you must meet and greet people before they appear on your 'who list') and very often, I would try to contact those I knew, and got a message like 'That person is AFK'.
New Worlds allows players to 'idle' their characters for hours at a time, so that the players can receive bonuses for being 'online'. This means that there are often characters that are just hanging around in Guild Halls and such, idle and unresponsive, the players being at work or in school or what-ever. I think it's very misleading to say that 'There are over 100 (players) constantly', which makes it sound as if there are dozens of people who are ready to RP with you. That isn't the case on NW. I thought it might be fair to clear this up for the OP who was looking for a good population. |

Re: Looking for a MUD
AFK doesn't mean a person is actually away from keyboard. It is also a method to block tells.
Actually it is true. There are dozens of players to rp with you all the time on the game. There are over 100 players constantly. Go to the tavern in the main city and you will likely find more players running around than are on most muds. The caravans that are run (one just yesterday) had 15 guards. The game just reset today and within 2 hours over 100 had logged back in. The staff watch idle players and kick them off periodically. Um, I think you need to read what the OP posted. He asked for at least 2 active players online. I think that NWA has two active players online, but I could be wrong. |
