Mirkwood - MUD Description | |
Mirkwood is a heavily modifed ROM mud started in April of 1995 and still going strong. Famous for its social atmosphere, its inspired areas, and its professional coding, Mirkwood is a dynamic and active MUD undergoing almost daily code modifications. New areas, written by the immortals and players of Mirkwood, are added frequently and make good use of Mirkwood's programs for mobs, objects, and rooms. An innovative remort system means your character never gets old. Very loosely based on Tolkien, Mirkwood has a number of areas inspired by The Lord of the Rings, including Bree, the Shire, Lothlorien, Lonely Mountain, Barrow Downs, Isengard, and Mordor, with more on the way. But Mirkwood's player and immortals are far too eclectic to stick to one theme. The battle-scarred moon Daktor, the red- neck Trailer Park, the magic-loathing city of Pelios, the vast and deadly Ocean, and scores of other areas all await the stalwart adventurer. If you love the community of your fellows, join one of Mirkwood's eight tribes. Mirkwood's tribes have huge castles and keeps; their own channels; custom time and weather messages; internal security; shops for armor, weapons, food, and tokens; recall rooms; healers, trainers, and guild masters; and access to a tribal arena. There is also a stand alone area builder (mac/win) to help builders expand Mirkwood. |
