I am looking everywhere, and I need some help!

I need to find a hosting service that supports Coffee MUD. It requires that you direct the makefile to the Java SDK directory. My current hosting service wants to charge me more than I am currently paying to allow for what I need to use it, and requires that I do the work myself. I'd rather just get a host service that is compatible off-the-bat. Anyone happen to know a service I can use with Coffee MUD?

You may need to lease out a virtual private server (VPS) to host your game. I say this because our game runs on Java, and while not processor intensive, Java uses a lot of memory (ours runs on < 200 MB). You might use the term "Linux VPS" in your favorite search engine.

Linode and Slicehost are two really good VPS providers, imho, that you should consider. Although they are pricier than other ones, they don't oversell (so you can always use all the memory you think you are getting) and have good support.

I found a great place that hosts the mud for about five bucks, USD.

The whole thing takes about 390mb of space. Not too resource intensive but big. WORTH IT!

So, I exceeded my 550Mb quota on vermax and am looking into VPS.

VPSLink seems to be the only one I can afford to purchase with the money I have on hand. 20 bucks a month is a little too much. I don't know if I can get coffee running on it though..

There are many other options. See lowendbox.com to start exploring them. Of course, you also get what you pay for, particularly with VPSs.

Take a look at Webfaction. I can only say great things about them -- I've hosted my sites / servers there for a couple years now.
