Accursed Lands is back up and I wanted to share with you all the new address.

A great mud for those of you who enjoy a challenge.

I've been in the accursed lands for 5 years now and in many ways, the game, players, creators and the occational deer hoof to my skull challenge my best efforts to completely dominate the world.

Every game has weapons and armor.
In AL you can craft your own weapons & armor

Every game has a place where you can buy all kinds of items.
In AL you rent your own shop and stock items that you would like to sell to other players.

If you need something to eat, you can buy a slice of beef in most games.
In AL, you can hunt down your own food, skin the corpse and butcher meat from the corpse.

If you are thirsty, take a drink from a tavern or if you want to take a bath, dive into a fresh water lake and swim about.

Everything you do moves your character to becoming better at that particular skill. Just like in life.....the more you do, the more you learn.

This is a small list of skills

meditation - contemplate your lifes work
logging - cut down a tree
wind instruments - play a tune
gathering - discover herbs in the forest
repairing - sword needs to be sharp to make a clean cut
perception - got to watch out for those theives
carpentry - take that tree and turn it into a fine log
glass making - make something shiny - it could be very valuable
pilfer - working for a living is too much work
snap shot - who needs to aim at a target
whittling - anything from a torch to a spiked wooden club
basket weaving - pick a few flowers, put them in a nice basket
metal working - you need that sword & armor by next week..no problem
skinning - I can make some good money as a fur trapper
butchering - everyone needs to eat
envenoming - assassination is my game
fire making - for those cold winter nights & dark hallways
stringed instruments - music is good for the soul
bashing - you're in my way.....move or I will move you
geology - those ores have flakes of gold....I'm RICH
palming - you want to see a magic trick ?
weaving - give me some simple grass and I can make most anything
blocking - You're not leaving this room
fishing - a simple day in the sun, relaxing with your line in the water
gem cutting - I can take that rough stone and make sparkle
glass blowing - I like to work with hot stuff
lock picking - I forgot my keys.....of course this is my room
mining - I have a contract to deliver ore
smithing - I can pound that out
stone carving - Mount Rushmore...watch out
stone masonry - that wall looks a little used
tanning - i need some leather

You can try out the game through our telnet or java telnet connections. There is information on the various races, a timeline of events in the past and of course rules & guidelines for playing in the game.

Perhaps you would like to do some coding or building for the game. There is an online application form to fill out and this will begin the process to see if you have what it takes to be a creator in the Accursed Lands.

Come and check out the web site, create a character and roam around in the land for a while. Get your feet wet and perhaps this is the MUD that you've been dreaming of playing.

You examine a canvas backpack.
A canvas backpack with finely tooled leather straps and an opened leather cover. It seems to be moderately used. It is being worn on your back. It contains: iron knife, a couple rabbit pelts, wooden torch, a couple tan roots, a few handfuls of dried grass, crude lock pick and a hardened steel file.

Everything in the game is just as you would have it in real life.

My items are in my pack. My pack is worn on my back.
My pack will only hold so many items.

You heft a hardened steel file.
You estimate that it weighs somewhere close to 4 eggs and 4 stones.

My health is not some amount of hit points. Each limb takes damage when hit. The limb can break or even be ripped off.
You don't fair to well in a fight with a broken leg.

My description includes everything I am wearing.
It can be very basics items or elaborate clothes of a king.

We don't have +25 vorpal weapons of death & destruction.
We have longswords, clubs, quarterstaves, slings, bows & arrows. and many other weapons of choice.

Our mud isn't about who can fight best or what magic spells you can obtain. It's about ROLEPLAY.

Taking your character and doing as he or she would do.

Talk to people. Interact with your environment. React realistically. If someone walks up to you and spits in your face, are you going to smile and say "hi" ? Of course not.

Our mud has over 600 verbs that you can use in the game.
