If you are into star wars, Kobra mud is great! It's got lots of star wars content, but also independent content from the imaginations of the coders. There's stuff there you won't see elsewhere. There's between 6000 and 10000 rooms, lots of secrets, good combat, controlled pvp, space combat, lots of imaginative npcs, and much more.

I could also suggest Atonement RPI, which opens next month for BETA after a successful ALPHA campaign. It's a Sci-Fi Post Apocalyptic MUD with great depth in code, combat and crafting; the catch is that it is an RPI, and that means permanent death and enforced, immersive roleplay.
