Sure, but that's a design decision on a MUD's part. Simply don't allow combat-functional clothing to be restrung if that's a problem in your MUD. We don't because it'd be a problem.

Right, that's what we do as well. The few folks that can "tailor can only tailor clothing items, which are statless useless items (as opposed to armor items, even if the armor is made of cloth.)
But again, I don't consider that a true crafting system, and I doubt restringing decorative roleplaying items is what the original poster wants when he says he's looking for an innovative crafting system. Though maybe I'm wrong. I just know that even though we have this aesthetic function on our MUD, I think it'd be dishonest to advertise it as having a crafting system. |
